Honour and respect must be earned.
Very good comment kwint.
Earned by setting an example of honour and respect not one of violence and abuse.
..and by logical extension, imho, you'll always show a deep respect for your brooklyn parent too.. look at this from a young people ask article:.
>>>>>parents who are hot-tempered or immoral, who are drunkards, or who bicker with each other?are they really worthy of honor?
yes, for the bible condemns holding any parent "in derision.
Honour and respect must be earned.

having been taught that dating is only when you are ready for a marriage mate and then you get married forever, i was so quick to commit.
almost got married after 6 months to the first boyfriend i ever had when i was 18, a jw of course.
then i saw the light and didn't do it.
You say you can only feel lust and nothing more. Maybe you have deliberately closed off your emotions and ability to be intimate because of those 6 years of hell. I think it's time for you to see a psychologist where you will be assisted in bringing out your fears and dealing with them.
Aside from that Avishai has givien you some very useful comments. I wouldn't necessarily agree with the comment about a good relationship sneaking up. I think you can tell quite quickly whether or not there is a potential for a good relationship. It's a question of building it together over time not one of waiting around to see if it sneaks up (but I suspect Avishai didn't necessarily mean for it in the sense that his words convey).
my jw sister works for the postal service, wearing the uniform and driving one of their mail trucks.
not only do i think this is hypocritical given the jw stance on government, it pisses me off each time i go to the post office and read the stupid sign about postal employees and federal crimes blah blah blah - like, what makes them so much more important than any other working person.. anyhow this has been bugging me for some time and i'd really like to confront her one day about wearing a symbol of the government, but i doubt i'll ever have the chance.
gawd, i detest those phoney people.. gl.
You really are immature Schizm.....problem is, I think you're actually proud of that fact.

Response to Schiz:
I enjoy discussion. What you want to do is argue and you deliberately use contentious comments like "What you would have them do" or "Translation: "I just thought I wanted to discuss this. I now realize that I'm not qualified to finish what I started. I'm outta here! Bye."."
The fact is my explanation was clear, concise and correct. The fact is you can't deal with that. Whenever you have difficulty with someone challenging your points you resort to insult.
I am not interested in that type of dialogue as I outgrew it in my early late teens and early 20s.
really what do you look for to know that your husband, wife, girlfriend or what ever the relationship might be that they do love you?
how can you tell it is love or just a matter of convenience ?
those that have had many relationships may be able to answer because i really don't know if i know the difference.
The things I look for in a woman that indicates genuine love are the way she looks at me, the way she talks to me, the kind deeds, thoughtfulness and whether or not she includes me in her plans/planning. The truly defining element that indicates love is whether or not a person would be willing to sacrifice their own interests for the betterment of the other. The ultimate sacrifice being their life i.e. would they be willing to shove you out of the way of danger whilst putting themselves in danger. This I find is consistent in all relationships. For example, I would risk my life to save my kids without hesitation but I think this applies to a husband-wife (partner-partner) relationship as well.
after being deceived in the first section "where is this world heading?
" the next section of misrepresentation in the brochure is "what does it all mean?"..
it starts with this mind-numbing statement:.
perhaps if you posted more of the article it might help the discussion
If you go to Elsewhere's post and click on the download link and then enter the user name and password that he has provided, you will be able to download the entire brochure.

Response to Schiz:
It is not I who made up their silly doctrine or rules rather it is WT. The fact that I point out that certain behaviour is hypocritical when compared against their WT doctrine and rules is for them to have to explain - not me.
feeling displaced?
considering a move to the great white north?.
our neighbors north of the border are reaching out to make that move a little easier.
Sorry bud your a day late on this one

Jehovah's Witnesses have the same right to have a job as anybody else. Your reasoning is extremely shallow. If your way of reasoning was correct though, a JW would be "hypocritical" were he or she to make use of government currency, such as a $1.00 bill. To simply be employed by an agency of the government is not the same thing as becoming involved in politics.
Schiz I will speak on her defense (in case she went to bed). I understand her point. Firstly it is NOT a question of rights. As far as rights go a JW has the same rights as anyone else in society and that is not in question.
It has to do with the fact that JWs believe that the Gov't is controlled by Satan and does Satan's will. If a JW were to work for the Gov't then it could be argued that the JW is assisting Satan in advancing Satan's agenda. The creator of this thread views that as hypocritical behavior for a JW. A JW has opportunity to be gainfully employed in the U.S. without having to participate in working for the Government.
do you guys think social security will ever be reformed?
during the election bush proposed to fix social security through private accounts but given the stock market's last couple of years i don't think private accounts are going to be the solution to it all.
this is not a post written with the intent of bashing a single person, because frankly i think there's enough blame to go around.
Without getting into a lengthy explanation regarding economic theory, it has to do with (permanent and unrecoverable) inefficiences which stem from "dead weight loss".
